In a proud moment for Indian cinema, Abhay Sinha, President of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), has been unanimously elected as the Vice President of FIAPF — the International Federation of Film Producers Associations — at its annual general assembly in Cannes, France.
According to a press release, it marks a significant milestone for Indian producers, as FIAPF is the apex global body representing film producers from more than 30 countries. Sinha’s appointment comes as a recognition of his years of contribution to the Indian film industry and his proactive international outreach through IMPPA.
Under his leadership, the IMPPA — which has been active since 1937 — has evolved into a dynamic, globally engaged organisation championing the interests of Indian producers and filmmakers both domestically and abroad. He has worked relentlessly to uplift Indian content creators and bring them global recognition. The annual meet in Cannes was held on May 17, 2025,
One of the highlights of his tenure includes spearheading IMPPA’s presence at the Cannes Film Festival for the second consecutive year in 2025. Over 40 Indian films and delegates participated, presenting India’s cinematic diversity on an international platform. Sinha also joined as a speaker at the Bharat Pavilion’s panel discussion titled ‘Changing Paradigm of Film Screening: Theatres to OTT, Digital Platforms and Beyond’ where he shared insights into the evolving landscape of film consumption and distribution.
As the founder of Yashi Films, Sinha has produced more than 150 feature films in multiple languages and over 5,000 episodes of television content. He is also the brain behind the International Bhojpuri Film Awards (IBFA) — the first and only global awards platform dedicated to Bhojpuri cinema.
