Celebrated American filmmaker Wes Anderson’s highly anticipated new film ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ is set to release in Indian cinemas on June 6, bringing with it the director’s trademark visual storytelling and emotional depth.
According to a PTI report, the film is being brought to India by Universal Pictures, in association with Warner Bros. Discovery and DreamWorks Animation. Described as “a dark and gripping tale of espionage,” the movie explores the complexities of a fractured father-daughter relationship, set against the backdrop of an unfolding international spy narrative.
The film is scheduled to make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this month, where it will be featured in the main competition lineup—a major platform that has frequently celebrated Anderson’s signature style of storytelling.
‘The Phoenician Scheme’ marks a thematic shift for the director, best known for visually whimsical and emotionally resonant films like ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’, and ‘The French Dispatch’. This latest feature promises a darker, more psychological tone while retaining Anderson’s unique cinematic touch.
With its theatrical release in India locked for June 6, cinephiles can expect a visually rich espionage drama that offers both emotional gravitas and narrative intrigue—hallmarks of a Wes Anderson film.
