The World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit or WAVES, which was announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting last year and was to be held in the first half of February this year, has been postponed to late April and early May.
Sources told Indiabroadcastingworld.com all the industry organisations involved in organizing WAVES have also been informed about the development and a formal announcement is awaiting clearance from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his last ‘Mann ki Baat’ address recently had dwelt on WAVES, saying that that the inaugural event will not only highlight the rich and diverse media and entertainment industry of India, but also the soft power of Indian content and its creative community that’s now being hailed world over more than ever.
The PM had also compared the WAVES to other global events like the
World Economic Forum in Davos.
Earlier last year, while having announced WAVES (https://wavesindia.org/challenges-2025), MIB officials had said the event would see a close coordinated effort between the M&E industry and technology.
WAVES aims to be a premier forum, fostering dialogue, trade collaboration and innovation within the evolving M&E industry landscape, government officials have stated, adding the summit will convene industry leaders, stakeholders, and innovators to explore opportunities, tackle challenges, attract trade to India, and shape the sector’s future.
