Renowned filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj is set to reunite with Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor for an upcoming film, marking their fourth collaboration. The untitled project will feature Triptii Dimri in the lead female role, and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner.
The film is touted as a ‘big action commercial entertainer,’ reuniting Bhardwaj and Kapoor 15 years after their first collaboration on the critically acclaimed ‘Kaminey’ (2009). The duo also worked together on ‘Haider’ (2014) and ‘Rangoon’ (2017), both of which received widespread praise.
In a statement, Vishal Bhardwaj expressed his excitement: “I’m thrilled to collaborate once again with the incredible Sajid Nadiadwala, one of the finest producers and a dear friend, and the gifted Shahid Kapoor, my trusted talisman. What a delight to have Tripti Dimri, India’s National Crush, add her magic to this dream team.”
Sajid Nadiadwala praised Bhardwaj as a “genius director” and described Shahid Kapoor as a “phenomenal powerhouse performer.” He also welcomed Triptii Dimri to the NGE family, highlighting her talent and growing popularity.
The film is expected to begin shooting soon. This will be Bhardwaj’s first directorial venture following his 2023 Netflix release, ‘Khufiya’, which starred Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in the romantic drama ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ alongside Kriti Sanon, which was released in February 2024. His upcoming film Deva, co-starring Pooja Hegde, is set to release in 2025.”
Triptii Dimri, who received acclaim for her role in the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Animal’, recently starred opposite Vicky Kaushal in ‘Bad News’. Her next appearance will be in ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ with Rajkummar Rao, set to hit theaters on October 11, 2024.
