The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Vishesh Films by issuing an injunction that prevents Super Cassettes Industries, widely known as T-Series, from releasing any film under the titles ‘Tu Hi Aashiqui,’ ‘Tu Hi Aashiqui Hai,’ or any other name incorporating the term ‘Aashiqui.’
The order came in response to a petition filed by Vishesh Films, which co-produced the original ‘Aashiqui’ films, seeking to protect its well-established film franchise. Vishesh Films argued that the use of the term ‘Aashiqui’ by T-Series would amount to an infringement of their intellectual property rights, potentially misleading audiences and diluting the brand value associated with the iconic film series, The Economic Times reported.
The court recognized the significance of the ‘Aashiqui’ franchise and granted the injunction, acknowledging that Vishesh Films holds a legitimate interest in preserving the uniqueness and integrity of its title. The interim order effectively restrains T-Series from using the title ‘Aashiqui’ or any similar variation for their films until a final decision is reached in the matter.
