Netflix India has appointed Mahima Kaul as its new Director of Public Policy. Kaul shared her excitement for the role in a LinkedIn post, highlighting her enthusiasm for the challenges and opportunities in the OTT and streaming sectors in India.
“Absolutely delighted to have joined Netflix today to lead public policy in India,” Kaul said. “After considerable time spent in social media/apps, I am really excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead for OTTs and streaming services, and the broader policy work ahead of us.”
Kaul previously served as Director of Public Policy for APAC at Bumble, where she established public policy priorities and initiated the “Brunch with Bumble” series. She also supported research on online gender-based violence in India. Before Bumble, she advanced from Head of Public Policy & Government Partnerships to Director at Twitter.
Her career began at the Center for Policy Research, and she has worked with organizations such as Ventana Productions, Hendrick Communications, Orion Publishing, The Indian Express, NewsX, and Observer Research Foundation.
