ESPN has extended its broadcast rights for England’s prestigious FA Cup, ensuring that the tournament will continue to be available to American audiences until 2028.
This new agreement builds on ESPN’s existing coverage, which began in 2018 and promises to bring even more excitement to soccer fans across the United States.
According to the company under, the new deal, ESPN+ will stream 79 matches per season, providing comprehensive coverage of the FA Cup, including the season-opening FA Community Shield. This ensures that viewers can enjoy a complete and immersive FA Cup experience.
The FA Cup, with its 143-year history, is the oldest national knockout soccer competition in the world. Nearly 700 teams participate, from Premier League giants to non-professional squads, making it a competition filled with underdog stories and thrilling matches.
This year’s FA Cup final will see Premier League champions Manchester City face off against their rivals Manchester United for the second year in a row. Last year, City emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, after securing their third consecutive Premier League title and a historic first Champions League win. Their dominance continued as they became the first team to win the Premier League four seasons in a row.
The extension of the FA Cup rights further solidifies ESPN’s position as a premier destination for top-tier international soccer. In addition to the FA Cup, ESPN+ offers coverage of Germany’s and Spain’s domestic knockout tournaments, ensuring fans have a constant stream of high-quality football throughout the season.
