In a celebration of visual storytelling and artistic expression, Sony BBC Earth has unveiled the highly anticipated third edition of its renowned photography competition, ‘Earth In Focus’.
The competition, known for its ability to capture the essence of the world through the lens of a camera, is back with a new theme that resonates deeply with the cultural tapestry of India – ‘Pride of India’.
A picture often said to be a poem without words, can encapsulate a moment’s emotion and beauty in its purest form. Rooted in this belief, ‘Earth In Focus’ invites photography enthusiasts from all walks of life to partake in an exploration of India’s architecture, cultures, and people.
The competition aims to celebrate the nation’s rich heritage and diversity, allowing photographers to wield their cameras as powerful tools of storytelling that transcend linguistic boundaries.
Kicking off on August 21, the month-long contest beckons photographers of all skill levels to contribute their unique perspectives within three distinct subcategories: Wildlife, Portraits, and Monuments. Participants will have the privilege of not only sharing their work but also engaging in the democratic process of voting for their favorite submissions, the channel said in a statement.
The discerning eye of Supreet Sahoo, a passionate birdwatcher and an accomplished photographer renowned for his expertise in Tropical bird photography, will serve as the judge for this year’s competition. His keen sense of observation and artistic sensibility will undoubtedly add a layer of depth to the selection process.
Prizes await those who manage to capture the essence of the ‘Pride of India’ in their photographs.
