The theatrical release date for Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming biopic titled ‘Sri’ has been set. The film will be released in theaters on September 15, 2023.
The film, which also stars Alaya F, Jyotika, and Sharad Kelkar, is based on the life of visually-impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla and tells the inspiring story of a man who did not let his disability prevent him from achieving his goals.
Bolla, who was born into a farming family in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, took the state government to court after he was denied admission to the Science stream after passing his Class X exams due to his disability.
He not only won the case, but he also graduated first in his class in Class XII. He was also involved in the late President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Lead India 2020 campaign, and he established organizations for the rehabilitation of disabled people and the pursuit of sustainable development goals, as well as Bollant Industries, which manufactures reusable products from waste material.
Tushar Hiranandani of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ fame directed the film, which starred Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles.
Jagdeep Sidhu and Sumit Purohit wrote the script, and Pratham Mehta directed it.
‘Sri,’ presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, is a T-Series Films & Chalk N Cheese Films Production, with producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani.
