Former secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) Amit Khare, who also held the dual charge as higher education secretary and had retired last month, has been appointed as advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for two years.
The appointment of Khare, a 1985 batch (retired) Indian Administrative Service officer of Jharkhand cadre, is on a contractual assignment, PTI reported.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Khare as advisor to the PMO in the rank and scale of secretary in the federal government, an official communication said.
The Hindustan Times added that Khare joins the PMO after officials like PK Sinha and Amarjeet Sinha left earlier this year. Khare’s competence lies in taking clear-cut decisions with utmost transparency.
