Sony MAX is set to bring one of the year’s most talked-about action thrillers to television with the world television premiere of ‘Mardaani 3’ on July 18. Headlined by Rani Mukerji, the film marks the return of the fearless police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated female protagonists.
According to a press release from the TV channel, the premiere will bring the latest chapter of the popular ‘Mardaani’ franchise to television audiences across the country after the film’s successful theatrical run. Known for its hard-hitting narratives and socially relevant themes, the franchise has built a strong following over the years, with Shivaji Roy emerging as a symbol of courage, determination and justice.
Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films and directed by Abhiraj Minawala, ‘Mardaani 3’ also stars Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in pivotal roles.
The film follows Shivani as she investigates the mysterious disappearance of several young girls, leading her to uncover a dangerous criminal network. As the investigation deepens, she finds herself confronting a series of unexpected twists and escalating threats in a high-stakes battle against crime. Combining action, suspense and emotional intensity, the film aims to deliver a gripping viewing experience.
Speaking about the film, Mukerji was quoted in the Sony Max release as saying that the ‘Mardaani’ franchise has always represented more than entertainment for her.
She described it as a voice against crimes that often go unnoticed and said the story of ‘Mardaani 3’ remained with her long after filming was completed.
The actress added that the film’s message is particularly relevant today and expressed happiness that its television premiere on Sony MAX would allow it to reach a wider audience.
According to Mukerji, the platform provides the scale needed for such stories to spark meaningful conversations while bringing the film’s action, emotion and social message into homes across the country.
