With FM radio’s Phase III auction the first fortnight was disappointing. In FM auctions for frequencies there is little movement in bids or the price percentage increase on completion of 55 rounds. This is drastic change in the auction that number of rounds fell down from 4 to 3 on the 14th day auction on 21st Nov., 2016. This happened for the first time.
Hyderabad and Dehradun continued to lead with bids of Rs 23,43,48,266 and Rs 15,61,00,590 respectively in the FM Phase III. Number of the cities are 44 that were failed to grab any bid. But one city Muzaffarpur showed the price percentage increased.
Information and Broadcasting Ministry report said that the aim was to continue till all the channels slated in the 2nd batch were auctioned. But some breaks will have to be taken for weekends and national holidays.
The company is going to allot FM Channels in some cities like Surat, Amritsar, Patna, Chandigarh and Jammu.
26th Oct. was the first day of the auction, saw a winning price of Rs 1820 milion against the aggregate price of Rs 1792 million. The second day saw low bids and no bids was announced after that. South Asia FM Ltd has been declared as the winning bidder for five Radio FM channels. It has been declared just a day after the commencement of the auction for the second batch of Phase III.
