In a powerful tribute to bravery and selfless service, Zee Telugu News celebrated the courage and commitment of Telangana Police at the prestigious ‘Police Real Heroes Awards 2025’ held at the Telangana Police Command Control Centre, Banjara Hills, on May 5.

The grand ceremony honoured distinguished officers from across the state whose relentless dedication has played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order, protecting citizens, and reinforcing public trust in the police force.

According to an official press release issued by Zee Telugu News, the awards ceremony was graced by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who commended the efforts of the 95,000-strong police force in making Telangana one of the safest and most progressive states in India. Drawing parallels between the role of the police and that of soldiers at the border, the Chief Minister described them as the “guardians of modern society” and credited their discipline and vigilance for attracting global investments to the state.

Also present were Civil Supplies and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Director General of Police Dr. Jitender, and several senior police officials. Addressing the gathering, DGP Dr. Jitender proudly shared that Telangana Police ranked No. 1 in the India Justice Report, attributing it to their transparent, efficient, and community-focused policing model.

One of the emotional highlights of the evening was the recognition of frontline officers whose commitment to duty has gone beyond the call. These real heroes were lauded for their roles in tackling cybercrime, curbing drug trafficking, managing traffic, countering terrorism, and fostering public trust through community engagement. Among those honoured were KVM Prasad (ACP, Cyberabad Security Bureau), M. Narsing Rao (DSP, Telangana ICCC), and Taviti Ravi Kumar (CI, Maheshwaram Zone), all of whom played significant roles in strengthening internal security.

The awardees represented a cross-section of the police force — from investigative teams and digital units to traffic constables and home guards. Head Constables G. Vishnu Vardhan Giri and CH Srinivas were applauded for their investigative contributions, while officers like Tallapalli Mahender, P. Shankar Vikram Kumar, and Home Guard Minister Eshwarayya were acknowledged for their consistent efforts on the ground. The ceremony also celebrated distinguished officers like G. Gopinath (CI, Bhainsa), Hari Prasad (ACP, Panjagutta Traffic), and Billa Koteshwara Rao (CI) for their exemplary service.

Zee Telugu News also presented a powerful documentary during the event, showcasing the inspiring stories of these officers and their daily battles to ensure public safety. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as the heroes were felicitated with medals and citations amid standing ovations from guests and fellow officers.

Adding to the evening’s patriotic fervour were cultural performances — a heartfelt tribute by ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ winner Dasari Meghana Naidu and an elegant Kuchipudi recital by prodigies Shubhagiri and Shanvi Kothari — blending tradition, pride, and celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Umesh Sharaf, State Director – AP & Telangana, Zee Telugu News, expressed his gratitude towards the police force. “The frontline heroes of a safer Telangana need to be honoured. Their selfless service, especially in today’s complex law and order environment, needs to be spotlighted, celebrated, and remembered,” he said.
Zee Telugu News Editor Mr. Bharat reinforced the channel’s mission to uphold public interest journalism. “The ‘Police Real Heroes Awards’ are not merely accolades; they are a testament to our belief in truth-driven reporting and civic responsibility,” he said. “By honouring these exemplary officers, we aim to inspire a culture of respect and admiration for those who serve with integrity.”
He further added, “Young Indians need authentic role models — individuals who embody courage, discipline, and selfless service. Through these awards, we hope to present the youth with real examples of commitment and foster a legacy of values for future generations.”
The Police Real Heroes Awards 2025 is part of Zee Telugu News’ wider initiative to celebrate unsung heroes and foster stronger ties between the police and the public. The channel intends to make this an annual recognition programme, underlining its commitment to social impact and nation-building through meaningful journalism.
