Winona Ryder is set to return to Netflix with a guest appearance in the third season of ‘Wednesday’, adding further star power to the popular supernatural series. The announcement confirms that the actress will take on a special role in the upcoming season, though details about her character remain undisclosed.
According to a UNI report, the casting marks a notable reunion between Ryder and Jenna Ortega, who previously portrayed mother and daughter in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The film was directed by Tim Burton, who also serves as director and executive producer on the Netflix series.
Burton welcomed Ryder’s entry into the show, saying she naturally fits into the world of the series. Show creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar also expressed excitement, highlighting Ryder’s long-standing creative association with Burton and describing her collaboration with the filmmaker as one that has shaped some of cinema’s most memorable characters. They noted that working with her on ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ was a rewarding experience and expressed enthusiasm about bringing her to the world of Nevermore.
The role marks a swift return to Netflix for Ryder following her appearance in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Her addition is expected to further strengthen the ensemble cast of the show, which has gained significant global popularity since its debut.
The upcoming season will also feature Eva Green, who has been cast as Ophelia, the sister of Morticia Addams. Returning and additional cast members include Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, and Evie Templeton. Established names such as Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, and Fred Armisen will also be part of the ensemble.
Based on characters created by Charles Addams, ‘Wednesday’ has emerged as a major success for Netflix since its launch.
The second season, released in two parts in August and September 2025, became another major hit for the streaming platform, further strengthening anticipation for the upcoming third season.
