Universal Music India (UMI), a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), has announced a strategic partnership with Maddock Films and its newly launched music label Mad For Mussic, led by founder Dinesh Vijan.
Under this alliance, UMI will serve as Mad For Mussic’s global strategic partner for upcoming film soundtracks and other related businesses.
The partnership strengthens UMI’s artist-focused presence in India and expands its footprint in film music — the country’s largest music category. Through UMG’s global network, Mad For Mussic’s catalogue will gain access to international audiences and wider opportunities.
Maddock Films, under Vijan’s leadership, has become one of Bollywood’s most innovative production studios, credited with popularising the horror-comedy genre through hit franchises such as ‘Stree’, ‘Bhediya’, ‘Munjya’, and the forthcoming ‘Thama’. Its music-driven storytelling has delivered several chartbusters, including the viral track ‘Pardesiya’ from ‘Param Sundari’.
Universal Music India has an extensive legacy in Hindi film soundtracks, having worked on classics such as ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Dostana’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Devdas’ and ‘Khamoshi’.
Commenting on the deal, Adam Granite, CEO, Africa, Middle East & Asia, UMG, said, “This landmark partnership with Maddock Films signals a crucial step forward for our India business. Dinesh Vijan is not just a Hindi film industry veteran, he is a first-class story-teller with an unparalleled ear for music. It is a great privilege for UMI to work on the studio’s forthcoming slate of films and bring even more incredible Hindi music to audiences worldwide.”
Maddock Films’ Vijan, added, “Our cinema emanates from the smallest towns and resonates with audiences globally. Music has always been central to my films. UMG is the perfect partner for our ambitions as Maddock steps into its next growth phase, developing new genres and expanding our franchises.”
