Director Homi Adajania’s upcoming film ‘Cocktail 2’, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, is scheduled to release in theatres on June 19. The film serves as a follow-up to Adajania’s 2012 hit ‘Cocktail’, which became widely popular for its modern take on relationships and friendship.
According to a PTI report, the makers confirmed the release date by unveiling posters featuring the three lead actors, with the announcement shared across social media platforms. The team also revealed that the film’s teaser will be released next week, building anticipation among audiences for the upcoming romantic drama.
The film is written by Luv Ranjan and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films. The production house has been behind several successful films in recent years and continues to expand its slate with large-scale commercial projects.
‘Cocktail 2’ also marks a reunion for Kapoor and Sanon, who previously shared screen space in the romantic comedy ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. The upcoming film will, however, mark the first on-screen collaboration between Kapoor and Mandanna, adding a fresh pairing to the project.
The original Cocktail, released in 2012, starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty. The film revolved around a complicated love triangle between the three characters and was well received at the box office, reportedly earning over Rs.120 crore worldwide. Its mix of romance, music and urban storytelling made it one of the notable Bollywood films of that year.
Adajania has directed several well-known projects across genres, including ‘Being Cyrus’, ‘Finding Fanny’, ‘Angrezi Medium’ and ‘Murder Mubarak’. He has also ventured into the streaming space with the series ‘Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo’.
With a popular franchise title, a fresh cast combination and a successful filmmaker at the helm, ‘Cocktail 2’ is expected to generate strong curiosity among audiences when it arrives in theatres this June.
