Between October 26 and November 25, Elon Musk’s Twitter banned 45,589 accounts in India for promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity.

Under its new owner, the microblogging platform also removed 3,035 accounts for promoting terrorism on its platform in the country.

During the reporting period in India, Twitter banned a total of 48,624 accounts.

In its monthly report by the new IT Rules, 2021, Twitter stated that it received 755 complaints from users in India during the same period via its grievance redressal mechanisms and that it took action on 121 of those URLs.

These include complaints from individual users, as well as court orders, IANS reported from New Delhi.

The most common complaint from India was about abuse/harassment (681), followed by intellectual property infringement (35), hateful behavior (20), and privacy infringement (15).

Twitter also stated in its new report that it had processed 22 grievances regarding account suspensions.

“All of these issues were resolved, and appropriate responses were sent. After reviewing the specifics of the situation, we overturned none of these account suspensions. All accounts are still suspended “said the business.

“During this reporting period, we also received 1 request related to general questions about Twitter accounts,” the company said.

Big digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users are required to publish monthly compliance reports under the new IT Rules 2021.
