This year’s Suswasthya, Health Conclave & Awards, a leading award ceremony of TV9 Bangla, takes a different path to felicitate doctors as the protests around the brutal rape and murder of the young doctor of the RG Kar hospital have made news headlines.
The show will air today on the channel in the first half of the day, the network said in a media statement.
Amidst protests for justice for the gruesome incident, TV9 Bangla presents the prestigious award, Suswasthya Health Conclave and Awards, to felicitate not only the renowned doctors who have done wonders but also those unsung heroes whose contribution to the society is immense.
While presenting the Health Awards, the news channel also expressed anguish over the recent nexus and the murder that has occurred.
The jury doctors that have selected the best research and innovation of the recent past are Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee and Dr. Dhiman Ganguly.
The unsung heroes who have been identified as Extraordinary Contributors worthy of being mentioned are Dr. Sukumar Chandra, Dr. Nayan Mukherjee, Dr. Amatabha Chakrabarti, Dr. Swapan Kumar Jana, Dr. Faruk, Hossain Gazi and Dr. Sankar Nath who have reached the extreme interiors of the villages to treat patients that cannot bear any expenses towards their health.
Other renowned doctors who have chosen different professions were also recognized. Even those who have contributed their service to society and are still practicing were also recognized under the Lifetime Achievement category.
The programme concluded with a doctor’s band, a solo performance of doctors, a short film, and a duet that protested the heinous incident at the RG Kar hospital.
