The makers of the iconic animated film series ‘Toy Story’ have officially released the teaser for its fifth instalment, setting the stage for its grand return to theatres on June 19, 2026.
The teaser gives fans a glimpse into the latest adventure of Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the beloved gang, as they face a new, tech-driven challenge.
According to an ANI report, the upcoming film introduces a new character named Lilypad — a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet that complicates playtime for the toys. The teaser hints at an engaging clash between the toys and this all-new digital threat, bringing a fresh spin to the story. Greta Lee joins the cast as the voice behind Lilypad, marking her debut in the franchise.
Pixar shared the teaser on its official Instagram handle, sparking excitement among fans across generations. Returning to voice their iconic characters, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprise their roles as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, alongside Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, and Tony Hale as Forky. The film also features comedian Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants, a new addition to the ‘Toy Story’ universe.
Directed by Andrew Stanton known for ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘WALL·E’, and ‘Finding Dory’ ‘Toy Story 5’ promises to carry forward Pixar’s signature emotional storytelling. Stanton, who co-wrote all four previous Toy Story films, is credited as the sole screenwriter for the upcoming release.
The ‘Toy Story’ franchise, which began in 1995 with the first-ever fully computer-animated feature, remains one of Pixar’s most celebrated works. Distributed initially by Disney before the studio’s acquisition of Pixar in 2006, the series has produced global hits such as ‘Toy Story 3’ (2010) and ‘Toy Story 4’ (2019), both crossing the USD 1 billion mark at the global box office and winning Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature.
‘Toy Story 5’ marks Pixar’s 31st feature film. The studio’s most recent release, ‘Elio’, earned USD 152 million globally, while ‘Inside Out 2’ became the highest-grossing film of 2024 with over USD 1.5 billion. Before Toy Story 5 arrives in theatres, Pixar will release its next original film, ‘Hoppers’, in March 2026.
