The show that turned ‘dhokha’ or betrayal into must-watch television is back. ‘The Traitors’, Prime Video India’s breakout reality hit, returns for its second season on August 13, with host Karan Johar once again presiding over the ultimate game of trust, betrayal and deception at the majestic Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer.

According to a Prime Video statement yesterday, the new edition will feature 21 celebrity contestants and fresh episodes of the unscripted Original will drop every Thursday.

The second season follows the “phenomenal” response to the show’s debut, which it described as having become a cultural moment and one of the platform’s defining reality franchises.

According to the company, the format combines psychological strategy, intelligent gameplay and high-stakes entertainment.

Even as celebrity participants’ names were kept a secret,  those of former Bollywood siren Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui were confirmed as the first contestants.

‘The Traitors’ is the Indian adaptation of an internationally acclaimed reality format with its Indian version produced by Dharmatic Entertainment in collaboration with format owner and distributor All3Media International.
