India will be among the first international markets to get the new ‘Baywatch’ reboot on Prime Video in 2027, after Fremantle struck a multi-territory licensing deal with the streaming platform covering India, Canada, Latin America and several European markets.

As part of the agreement, announced yesterday by Freemantle via a press release, Indian viewers will also get access to the franchise’s entire back catalogue, including all nine seasons of ‘Baywatch’ and both seasons of ‘Baywatch Hawaii’, ahead of the reboot’s launch.

The new 12-episode action drama, produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, reimagines the iconic lifeguard franchise with a fresh cast, while retaining its signature beach rescues and high-stakes drama.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon alongside Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck and Brooks Nader.

Original cast member David Chokachi reprises his role as Cody Madison, while Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard also return in guest appearances.

The reboot will premiere first on FOX in the US in January 2027 before rolling out on Prime Video across the licensed international territories later in the year.

Fremantle manages international sales, while FOX Entertainment Global retains US domestic distribution rights.

Originally launched in 1989, ‘Baywatch’ became one of television’s biggest global hits, airing in more than 200 countries and attracting over a billion weekly viewers at its peak.

The series starred David Hasselhoff and helped launch the careers of Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa and Yasmine Bleeth. The reboot aims to update the franchise for contemporary audiences while preserving its mix of action, relationships and beachside heroics.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Prime Video to bring the new ‘Baywatch’ to audiences across multiple territories, while also giving fans the opportunity to revisit the original series they know and love,” said Michela Di Mondo, EVP Distribution, Canada & International, Fremantle.

“Few shows have made as big a splash or had such lasting cultural impact as ‘Baywatch’, and this landmark deal marks a significant moment for one of the industry’s most eagerly anticipated launches,” she added.
