Hollywood studio 20th Century Studios has unveiled the first teaser of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, the upcoming sequel to the 2006 hit, starring Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. The film will be released in Indian theatres on May 1, 2026, the studio said in a statement.
The teaser, which dropped on social media on Wednesday (Nov. 12) evening, offers a brief glimpse of the long-awaited reunion, showing Streep’s formidable fashion editor Miranda Priestly and Hathaway’s Andy Sachs encountering each other in an elevator, a PTI report stated.
New faces in the cast include Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Justin Theroux, and Pauline Chalamet. Patrick Brammall plays Andy’s new love interest, while Rachel Bloom also appears in the film. Adrian Grenier, who played Nate in the original, will not return.
The teaser opens with a close-up of a woman’s red stilettos clicking confidently across the floor as people step aside, making way for her. The visuals cut between racks of couture, bustling dressing rooms and models getting ready.
The camera returns to the mystery woman entering a lift, only for it to be revealed that she is Miranda Priestly (Merly Streep), the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine.
Just as the elevator doors are about to shut, Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) enters. With a smirk on her face, Miranda says, “Took you long enough,” to which Andy, who was once her assistance, slides on her sunglasses and smiles.
Sharing the teaser, 20th Century Studios wrote, “A sequel? For spring? Groundbreaking. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return in The Devil Wears Prada 2, in theatres May 1, 2026. Watch the teaser trailer now.”
