ShemarooMe’s latest Gujarati premiere, ‘Auntypreneur’, is a heartwarming reminder that ambition knows no age. Blending humour, emotion, and empowerment, the film celebrates the indomitable spirit of women who choose to begin again, no matter what stage of life they’re in.
Directed by Pratik Rajen Kothari, the film stars the ever-graceful Supriya Pathak Kapur in one of her most endearing roles. She plays Jasuben Gangani, a 65-year-old homemaker living in a middle-class Mumbai housing society. When her building faces demolition due to financial challenges, Jasuben refuses to surrender to fate, it’s a press release from Shemaroo.
Instead, she rallies a group of spirited “aunties” — homemakers, caretakers, and dreamers — to take charge of their lives by venturing into the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship and stock trading.
What begins as a fight for survival soon turns into a journey of self-discovery and sisterhood. With warmth, wit, and a touch of nostalgia, ‘Auntypreneur’ beautifully captures the courage of women who have spent years nurturing others, reminding audiences that it’s never too late to nurture their own dreams.
Supriya Pathak Kapur delivers a moving performance that radiates strength and tenderness in equal measure. Supported by a talented ensemble cast including Ojas Rawal, Brinda Trivedi, Margi Desai, and Yukti Randeria, the film strikes a perfect balance between laughter and life lessons — a celebration of resilience and rediscovery.
Speaking about the film, Supriya Pathak Kapur said, “’Auntypreneur’ reminded me that courage doesn’t always roar — sometimes it quietly brews in the corners of ordinary lives. Playing Jasuben was like rediscovering a part of myself that believes it’s never too late to start something new. The story of these women, who take an unconventional path to overcome crisis and challenge every stereotype along the way, beautifully captures the true spirit of empowerment. I’m glad the film will have its digital premiere on ShemarooMe, where stories rooted in culture and simplicity reach every home. I hope viewers see a bit of their mothers, grandmothers, and even themselves in these women who turn life’s chaos into confidence and dreams into reality.”
Streaming on ShemarooMe from 13th November 2025, ‘Auntypreneur’ redefines what entrepreneurship looks like at any age — proving that courage never retires and every day offers a new beginning.
