In a move that unites legacy content with modern digital convenience, Tata Play Binge has announced the onboarding of WAVES, the OTT platform launched by India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati. This strategic addition further cements Tata Play Binge’s role as a one-stop destination for inclusive, culturally rich, and accessible entertainment.
According to an official press release, the partnership is designed to bridge the gap between generations of Indian viewers, bringing timeless Doordarshan classics like ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’, ‘Circus’, ‘Fauji’, ‘Buniyaad’, and ‘Hum Log’ to today’s on-demand digital audience.
Alongside these legendary shows, WAVES also offers contemporary originals such as ‘Sarpanch Sahab’, ‘Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge’, and ‘Della Bella’. In total, the service now delivers over 20,000 hours of content across 12 Indian languages, offering something for every demographic.
For audiences seeking live experiences, WAVES also includes streaming of national events and broadcasts such as ‘Mann Ki Baat’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘Prabhu Shriram’ Lalla Aarti from Ayodhya, as well as major sporting events like the Kabaddi World Cup, the German Football Cup (Pokal), and the Hockey India League. In addition to on-demand programming, WAVES also provides access to over 35 live TV channels, offering a unique hybrid of traditional broadcast and OTT flexibility within Tata Play Binge’s single-subscription model.
Pallavi Puri, Chief Commercial and Content Officer, Tata Play, said, “Tata Play Binge was created to make OTT content more accessible to every Indian, and our partnership with Prasar Bharati is a meaningful step in that direction. WAVES brings a rich archive of culturally rooted, inclusive, and diverse programming—much of it timeless content that deserves a renewed audience.”
Adding to the sentiment, Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, said, “WAVES was created to bring public service content into the digital age, to make it accessible and engaging for today’s audiences. This partnership with Tata Play Binge strengthens that vision. It brings together the credibility of Doordarshan with the reach and convenience of a modern streaming platform.”
With this collaboration, Tata Play Binge continues to strengthen its reputation as India’s most inclusive OTT aggregator, now offering 30+ partner apps under one interface. The service is available across large-screen experiences on LG, Samsung, and Android connected TVs, as well as on the Tata Play Binge+ Android Set-Top Box, Amazon Fire TV Stick – Tata Play Edition, and via the web, making it easier than ever for audiences to enjoy beloved content from across generations.
