Tata Play has refreshed its Bengali movie service, Tata Play Bangla Cinema, through a partnership with Angel Television Pvt. Ltd., a brand that has been synonymous with Bengali storytelling for decades.
According to Tata Play press release, the collaboration introduces an exclusive content catalogue, designed to deliver a premium, ad-free entertainment experience for Bengali households across India.
Launched ahead of the festive season and coinciding with the centenary celebrations of screen legend Uttam Kumar, the revamped service features a carefully curated library of contemporary and classic Bengali films alongside originals.
The initiative is positioned as a one-stop destination for culturally rooted and high-quality entertainment.
With Angel Television’s vast content repository, the service now showcases Bengali films spanning from the 1940s to 2025. Classics such as ‘Antony Firingee’, ‘Deya Neya’, and ‘Hirak Rajar Deshe’ will sit alongside modern titles like ‘Prateek’, ‘Kencho Khoondte Keute’, ‘Aakrosh’, ‘Amar Prem’, and ‘Aamaar Bhuvan’. The line-up allows viewers to revisit the works of stalwarts like Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen, Satyajit Ray, and Ritwik Ghatak while exploring fresh narratives shaping Bengal’s cinematic present.
In addition to films, the platform offers short films aimed at young adults, music videos across film, non-film, and devotional genres for families, and exclusive animated content featuring iconic Bengali characters such as Handa Bhonda and Batul the Great. All programming is available in an uninterrupted, ad-free format.
Priced at Rs.60 per month with the first three days free, subscribers can access the service on channel #1305 or via the Tata Play mobile app for on-the-go viewing.
By combining Tata Play’s nationwide reach with Angel Television’s deep cultural connect, the partnership promises to bring scale and authenticity to Bengali entertainment. For viewers, it is not just a content upgrade but a celebration of Bengal’s rich cinematic legacy and evolving storytelling traditions.
