News18 India has strengthened its prime-time programming with the launch of ‘Desh Ki Pathshala’, a new show hosted by senior journalist Sushant Sinha. The programme premiered on June 16 and airs daily at 8.50 pm, aiming to offer viewers a deeper understanding of the day’s most important developments through research-backed analysis and contextual storytelling.
According to a News18 India press release, ‘Desh Ki Pathshala’ has been designed to go beyond conventional news reporting by focusing not only on what happened but also on why it happened, how it impacts people, and what broader lessons can be drawn from it. The show seeks to simplify complex national and international developments through a combination of facts, history, policy perspectives and ground realities.
The launch comes at a time when news consumption is increasingly driven by speed and breaking updates. Against this backdrop, the programme positions itself as an explanatory news format that prioritises clarity, context and credible analysis over noise and speculation.
One of Hindi news television’s most recognised faces, Sushant Sinha will anchor the daily show, bringing his signature style of sharp analysis and audience-focused presentation. The programme is built around the belief that news should not only inform but also help viewers understand the larger picture behind major events.
With the tagline “Khabar sirf batane ke liye nahin, samjhaane ke liye bhi hoti hai,” the show will examine stories through multiple lenses, including history, geography, governance, public policy and socio-economic impact. The objective is to provide viewers with a more comprehensive perspective on issues shaping India and the world.
The addition of Desh Ki Pathshala further strengthens News18 India’s revamped prime-time lineup. The channel now offers a sequence of distinct formats, beginning with Kishore Ajwani’s Sau Baat Ki Ek Baat at 7.50 pm, followed by Sushant Sinha’s ‘Desh Ki Pathshala’ at 8.50 pm and Aman Chopra’s ‘Desh Nahi Jhukne Denge’ at 10 pm.
The channel believes this programming mix combines research-driven journalism, explanatory storytelling and debate-led discussions, giving viewers multiple perspectives on key developments throughout the evening.
With its focus on simplifying complex issues and delivering meaningful context, ‘Desh Ki Pathshala’ aims to carve out a unique space in Hindi news prime time while reinforcing News18 India’s leadership position in the genre.
The show is available daily at 8.50 pm on News18 India and can also be viewed on Connected TV platforms and the channel’s YouTube presence
