Sony Sports Network has announced that it has secured the exclusive television and digital broadcast rights for the much-anticipated India tour of Zimbabwe.
This exciting five-match T20I series will take place in Harare from July 6 to July 14, 2024, bringing a fresh wave of cricket fever to fans across both nations.
A young and dynamic Indian squad is set to showcase their talent against Zimbabwe, promising a thrilling display of cricket. The series will be broadcast live in four languages—English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu—on Sony Sports Ten 3 (Hindi) SD & HD, Sony Sports Ten 4 (Tamil/Telugu), and Sony Sports Ten 5 SD and HD.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer – Distribution & International Business and Head – Sports Business at Sony Pictures Networks India, expressed his excitement: “We are extremely delighted to announce the broadcast of India tour of Zimbabwe, which adds value to our existing portfolio of cricket properties. Viewers can expect to witness an exciting series as the Indian cricket team gears up to showcase their skill and sheer quality against Zimbabwe.”
The addition of this tour further strengthens Sony Sports Network’s impressive lineup of cricket properties, which already includes partnerships with New Zealand Cricket, the England Cricket Board, and Sri Lanka Cricket.
The upcoming series is noteworthy as it marks India’s return to Zimbabwe for a T20I series since 2016, where India secured a 2-1 victory. More recently, in 2022, India played a three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe, winning all three matches, with Shubman Gill earning the Player of the Series accolade.
Tavengwa Mukuhlani, Chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket, shared his anticipation: “We are looking forward to hosting the Indian cricket team in Harare for an exciting T20I series. We are aware of the massive fan following for cricket in India and are glad to see Sony Sports Network broadcasting this series to cater to their audience.”
