Actor Barun Sobti is set to take on the lead role in ‘Tumhari Khushboo’, the next feature film by National Award-winning filmmaker Onir.
Known for backing sensitive, socially relevant stories, Onir’s new project brings together an intimate narrative and a strong creative team, with Sobti at the centre of the film.
According to a PTI report, ‘Tumhari Khushboo’ has been written by Ravi Asrani and is being produced by Impulse Mumbai. The volunteer-based collective is known for its work in promoting awareness around sexual wellness, including HIV and STIs, mental health, substance use, and issues of equity, advocacy and activism within the LGBTQIA+ community. The film is expected to reflect these concerns through a deeply personal and human lens.
The project also features Shashi Bhushan, a visually impaired actor, who will be seen portraying a queer character. His casting adds a layer of authenticity and sensitivity to the narrative, aligning with the film’s intent to represent lived experiences with honesty and empathy. Onir has often spoken about the importance of inclusive storytelling, and the film continues that creative philosophy.
While details about the storyline remain under wraps, ‘Tumhari Khushboo’ is expected to explore themes of identity, emotion and connection, staying true to Onir’s signature style of intimate, character-driven cinema. For Barun Sobti, the film marks another significant addition to his body of work, as he continues to choose roles that challenge conventions and engage with meaningful subject matter.
Further updates on the film’s production schedule and release plans are expected to be announced in the coming months.
