Sony LIV has announced that its new original animated series ‘The Legend of Karna’ will premiere on July 31. Inspired by one of the most powerful and tragic characters from the Mahabharata, the series aims to retell Karna’s life through a visually rich animated format.
Created by Sharad Devarajan and Jeevan J Kang, and produced by Graphic India, the series follows Karna’s journey from his miraculous birth to Kunti and the Sun God Surya to his rise as one of the greatest warriors in Indian mythology.
According to PTI report from Mumbai today, the story highlights Karna’s struggle against social prejudice after he is raised in the household of a charioteer, despite possessing extraordinary skills in archery.
Throughout his life, he faces discrimination because of his social status while striving to earn respect and prove his abilities on the battlefield.
The series will explore Karna’s courage, loyalty, sacrifices and inner conflicts, offering viewers a deeper look at one of the Mahabharata’s most complex and admired characters. It also showcases the challenges he overcomes in his pursuit of honour and recognition.
By presenting the story in an animated format, Sony LIV aims to introduce Karna’s legendary journey to a wider audience, including younger viewers, while staying rooted in the timeless themes of destiny, identity, friendship and resilience.
