Actress Sonal Chauhan has officially joined the cast of the much-awaited ‘Mirzapur: The Film’, the cinematic adaptation of the Prime Video popular crime thriller series that has become a cultural phenomenon among audiences.
The film, created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, is set to bring back fan-favourite characters, including Pankaj Tripathi as the formidable Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as the ambitious Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as the audacious Munna Tripathi.
According to an ANI report, Chauhan took to Instagram to share her excitement, posting a heartfelt handwritten note from the makers of ‘Mirzapur’ welcoming her aboard.
Expressing her gratitude and enthusiasm, the ‘Jannat’ actress wrote, “Still sinking in. So glad to be a part of a journey so incredible and game-changing. I’m immensely excited to join ‘Mirzapur: The Film’, and I can’t wait for you all to see what we have to unpack on the screen.”
She also thanked producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Gurmmeet Singh, and Excel Entertainment for bringing her into the world of ‘Mirzapur’, calling it an “iconic project.”
The upcoming film, slated for a theatrical release in 2026, promises to expand the gritty and gripping universe of ‘Mirzapur’ — a franchise that has redefined the crime-drama genre on Indian OTT platforms. The makers have hinted that the film will dive deeper into the power struggles, revenge, and chaos that define the city’s underworld, while introducing fresh dynamics through new characters, including Chauhan’s yet-to-be-revealed role.
Adding to the anticipation, actor Abhishek Banerjee is also returning to reprise his role as the enigmatic compounder. Following its theatrical run, ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ will premiere on Prime Video for members in India and across more than 240 countries and territories after just eight weeks of its release in thetres.
