SatCab Symposium 2024, the annual congregation of the Indian media and entertainment industry in Delhi, is back. To be held today, the conference is bigger and stars a more diverse range of speakers, including senior government officials.
Themed ‘Time for Reimagining & Reinvention of the Broadcast Sector’, the symposium will see Sanjiv Shankar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) lead the articulation of the government’s policies for the entertainment and broadcast sector, along with the likes of Deepali Sharma, MIB’s Additional Director (BP&L) and Subhash Kumar, MIB Deputy Secretary (DAS).
The showpiece of the event will be the keynote by MIB’s Shankar, followed by an Open House with the audience, featuring him and other government officials.
The two industry keynotes will be delivered in the morning by S.N. Sharma, CEO of DEN Networks and Arnab Goswami, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of Republic Media Network.
Former CEO of India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, will deliver a special address, dwelling on various aspects of the broadcast business, including the impact of DD FreeDish and government’s push for D2M or direct-to-mobile broadcast.
The sessions have been designed to explore the diverse aspects of the industry, including the challenges despite the government’s push for Ease of Doing Business.
‘The impact of hyper activity in the policy and regulatory fronts on the broadcasting sector’ session, for example, can definitely throw up exciting observations from speakers — Amit Arora, President, Indiacast ; Anil Malhotra, Head-Public & Regulatory Affairs, ZEEL; Kanak Singh Rana, Director, GTPL Hathway Ltd.; G.S. Oberoi, TMT advocate; Nagesh Narayandas Chhabria, Promoter, Bhima Riddhi Digital Services and moderator Kaushik Moitra, Partner, Bharucha & Partners.
Some of the other sessions include ‘Challenges in being in the news’, ‘Are the stakeholders ready to introspect?’ and ‘Introduction of D2M’ and regulatory fronts on the broadcasting sector’.
The welcome address will, of course, be delivered by Aavishkar Media Group’s founder and patriarch, Dr. A.K. Rastogi.
