Hollywood stars Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson have officially joined the cast of ‘The Batman – Part 2’, adding more star power to director Matt Reeves’ much-awaited sequel starring Robert Pattinson as Gotham’s dark knight.
According to IANS report, Reeves confirmed the casting developments through a post on his X account. The sequel, which continues the filmmaker’s gritty and grounded take on the Batman universe, is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on October 1, 2027.
Apart from Stan and Johansson, the film’s growing ensemble cast also includes Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch. While the makers have not yet disclosed details about the characters being played by the newly announced actors, the additions have already sparked speculation among fans and industry observers.
The upcoming film marks the continuation of the darker noir-inspired world introduced in 2022’s ‘The Batman’, which received praise for its atmospheric storytelling, detective-driven narrative and Pattinson’s brooding portrayal of Bruce Wayne. Directed by Matt Reeves, the sequel is being produced by Reeves alongside Dylan Clark under the banner of 6th & Idaho Productions.
The inclusion of Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan has further heightened anticipation around the project, especially given both actors’ strong association with major franchise cinema through the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their addition is expected to significantly expand the film’s global appeal ahead of its release.
With production preparations gradually moving forward, ‘The Batman – Part 2’ is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched superhero films currently in development.
