The makers of director Subhash K Raj’s upcoming family entertainer ‘Blast’ have officially announced that the film will release in theatres worldwide on May 28. The film stars Arjun Sarja, Priety Mukhundhan and Abhirami in lead roles and has already started generating buzz among Tamil cinema audiences.
According to an IANS report, production banner AGS Entertainment shared the announcement on its social media platforms with the message, “May 28th… the screens are set to #Blast. #BlastFromMay28.” The film has also cleared censor formalities and has received a U/A certificate ahead of its theatrical release.
The production house had earlier confirmed in February that shooting for the film had been completed. At the time, AGS Entertainment released behind-the-scenes visuals from the sets, featuring the cast and crew celebrating the wrap-up with a cake-cutting ceremony. The studio wrote, “Locked and Wrapped! #AGS28. Big love to the entire team. We can’t wait for you to see this on the big screen!”
‘Blast’ has attracted attention partly because AGS Entertainment is currently enjoying strong momentum following the success of films like Love Today and Dragon. Industry circles are also closely watching the project because it marks the Tamil cinema debut of music director Ravi Basrur, who gained nationwide recognition for his work in the blockbuster KGF franchise.
Sources associated with the production describe the film as a wholesome family entertainer packed with action, emotion and commercial elements. Director Subhash K Raj previously worked as an assistant director to Pradeep Ranganathan, who played a major role in the success of both ‘Love Today’ and ‘Dragon’.
The film also features actors Vivek Prasanna, John Kokken, Arjun Chidambaram, Pawan, Dileepan, Vinod Sagar and Bala Hasan R in key supporting roles.
On the technical side, cinematography has been handled by Arun Radhakrishnan, while editing is by Pradeep E Ragav. Veeramani Ganesan has overseen art direction, Phoenix Prabhu has choreographed the stunt sequences, and Dinesh Manoharan has designed the costumes.
The film is being produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh and Kalpathi S. Suresh under the AGS Entertainment banner.
