Sanghamitra Mazumdar, a seasoned journalist with over 25 years of experience across India’s top print and digital newsrooms, has stepped down from her position as Editor, ABP Live English, she shared the update on her LinkedIn account.
Her departure marks the close of a significant four-year chapter at ABP Network, during which she played a key role in sharpening the editorial identity and digital footprint of the network’s English news platform.
Mazumdar joined ABP Network in 2021 and steered the English digital newsroom through some of the most defining periods in the recent news cycle — from national elections and global developments to critical public health coverage and the media’s digital transformation in India. Her leadership helped shape ABP Live English into a more agile, engaging, and editorially strong platform, focused on trust, clarity, and meaningful journalism.
Her work was instrumental in deepening collaboration between the digital and broadcast arms of the newsroom, streamlining editorial operations, and pushing for a cohesive, high-quality content strategy that resonated with readers. Her ability to mentor teams, strategize newsroom priorities, and hold firm on editorial values earned her both respect and impact.
Reflecting on her time at ABP, Mazumdar said, “ABP gave me the space to shape stories, mentor teams, and think beyond the breaking news rush. It was a newsroom that demanded the best of you, and gave you back just as much in learning and purpose.”
Prior to her tenure at ABP, Mazumdar held editorial positions at some of India’s most respected media institutions including The Indian Express, The Statesman, Hindustan Times, and ThePrint.in, bringing with her a wealth of insight, experience, and integrity.
According to sources familiar with the development, Mazumdar is set to join a globally focused news platform in a top editorial leadership role, where she is expected to drive content strategy and newsroom innovation on a broader scale. Her next move signals a continued commitment to purposeful journalism in a time of rapid news evolution.
With her departure, ABP Live English bids farewell to a strong editorial voice who helped shape its digital narrative — and who now sets her sights on a new chapter in global journalism.
