Samay Raina’s ‘Still Alive’ crosses 53 million views, sets global record

New Delhi, 22-April -2026, By IBW Team

Comedian Samay Raina has marked a significant return to the spotlight with his debut stand-up special ‘Still Alive’, which has crossed 53.4 million views on YouTube. The special has now emerged as the most-watched full-length stand-up comedy special in the world from a single upload, setting a notable global benchmark.

According to an ANI report, the achievement makes Raina the first comedian to hold the record for the highest-viewed stand-up special globally on a single video platform upload. The milestone comes after more than a year of relative absence from the public eye, following the controversy surrounding ‘India’s Got Latent’.

‘Still Alive’, which runs for 1 hour and 21 minutes, marks Raina’s first official stand-up special and offers a deeply personal narrative. The comedian candidly addresses multiple aspects of his life, including the fallout from the controversy, his time away from public appearances, personal and financial challenges, and experiences from his childhood. He also reflects on his identity as a Kashmiri Pandit and speaks openly about mental health, while acknowledging the support he received from fans and close friends during a difficult phase.

The controversy linked to ‘India’s Got Latent’ began in February last year when a remark by Ranveer Allahbadia, who appeared as a panellist alongside Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, triggered widespread backlash. The situation escalated with FIRs filed against those associated with the show, prompting Raina to take it down from YouTube, while Allahbadia later issued a public apology.

Despite the setback, Raina’s latest success signals a strong comeback, both in terms of audience engagement and creative output. The scale of viewership underscores the growing global reach of Indian stand-up comedy, particularly on digital platforms where a single upload can resonate across borders.

With ‘Still Alive’ striking a chord with audiences worldwide, Raina has also hinted at continuing his journey, with a second season of ‘India’s Got Latent’ reportedly in the works.
