JioHotstar has officially dropped the trailer for ‘Mistry’, a fresh, character-driven crime thriller led by acclaimed actor Ram Kapoor. Slated to premiere on June 27, the series introduces audiences to Armaan Mistry, a quirky, brilliant detective who thrives on chaos, cutting through confusion with uncanny clarity and charm.
Presented under the Hotstar Specials banner, ‘Mistry’ is produced by Banijay Asia in collaboration with Universal International Studios and directed by Rishab Seth. The series is the Indian adaptation of the popular US crime dramedy ‘Monk’ and promises a thrilling yet humorous take on detective fiction.
The trailer teases a series that blends suspense, offbeat humour, and psychological complexity as Mistry takes on case after case each more twisted than the last alongside his sharply intuitive partner Sehmat, played by Mona Singh.
The series also features Shikha Talsania as the feisty and unpredictable Sharanya and Kshitish Date as Bunty, a persistent cop navigating Mistry’s peculiarities. The ensemble cast brings to life a gripping and eccentric world where truth is stranger than fiction, and comedy walks hand-in-hand with crime.
Director Seth said, “Mistry was never meant to be a conventional detective show — it’s a thriller that doesn’t take itself too seriously and yet keeps one invested. Armaan Mistry is quirky, yes, but also wildly perceptive and an absolute genius. This contradiction is the heart of the show. Directing Ram and Mona has been an unforgettable experience.”
Kapoor, who headlines the series, called the role “one of the most fulfilling” of his career. Singh, who portrays Sehmat, added, “She doesn’t tiptoe around Armaan’s oddities; instead, she challenges and even outwits him at times. Mistry makes you laugh, then makes you think — and then makes you laugh again because the characters are so unapologetically themselves.”
