Get ready to meet India’s most brilliantly bizarre detective. Ram Kapoor returns to the screen in a never-seen-before avatar as Armaan Mistry, the quirky, obsessive, and oddly lovable sleuth in ‘Mistry’, JioHotstar’s newest original thriller-comedy series, premiering June 27, 2025.
Inspired by the Emmy-winning US show ‘Monk’, ‘Mistry’ is Banijay Asia’s Indian adaptation, produced in association with Universal International Studios. Blending sharp crime plots with offbeat humour and emotional depth, the show promises a unique ride through the mind of a man who sees what others miss — because he thinks differently.
Ram Kapoor, known for his commanding screen presence, steps into the shoes of Armaan Mistry, a once-celebrated police detective turned private investigator, haunted by personal loss but powered by an unmatched attention to detail. His quirks become his strengths in solving the most baffling cases.
Joining him is Mona Singh as ACP Sehmat Siddiqui — sharp, assertive, and Mistry’s reluctant ally. Their dynamic adds tension, camaraderie, and humour to the narrative. The series also features Shikha Talsania and Kshitish Date in key roles, rounding out a cast that balances drama with levity.
Directed by Rishab Seth, the show retains the spirit of Monk while infusing it with a distinctly Indian flavour. The creators promise not just whodunits, but why-dunits, exploring emotional layers beneath the crimes.
Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO of Banijay Asia & Endemol Shine India, commented, “Mistry reflects our belief in stories that challenge norms while entertaining. Ram Kapoor brings Armaan Mistry alive with finesse, and we’re thrilled to unveil this exciting series on JioHotstar.”
Linfield Ng, VP, Format Sales & Production, NBCUniversal Formats, added, “To see Monk adapted with such local charm is a joy. Ram Kapoor lends gravitas and charm to the role, making Mistry a must-watch.”
For Kapoor, this role marks a significant departure from his previous work, “Armaan Mistry is unlike any character I’ve played — he’s layered, unpredictable, and deeply human. It’s been a thrilling journey, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience this world.”
Each episode presents a standalone mystery wrapped in humour and heart. From stolen artefacts to high-profile murders, Armaan Mistry dives into the mess — often literally — to connect dots others don’t even see. The cases may be chaotic, but the detective? Precisely peculiar.
With its mix of emotional storytelling, unconventional humour, and a lead character you’ll root for even when he’s being utterly infuriating, Mistry is set to be one of JioHotstar’s most anticipated originals this year.
Mark your calendars — ‘Armaan Mistry’ is arriving on June 27, and he’s bringing a new kind of madness to mystery.
