‘Maalik’, featuring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, has earned Rs 9.47 crore nett at the domestic box office, the makers said yesterday. Directed by Pulkit of ‘Bhakshak’ fame, the film released in theatres on Friday.
The film is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner and Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films. Production banner shared the box office collection with a post on its official X handle, which featured the film’s poster, a PTI report stated.
“Superhit hai inka action aur swag 9.47 crore,” the text over the poster read. It also had the day-wise breakdown of the film’s collection.‘Maalik’ opened with Rs 4.02 crore nett at the domestic box office and went on to earn Rs 5.45 crore on its second day.
“Jab Maalik bawaal machaate hain, toh woh kuch iss tarah dikhta hai. Book your tickets now. #Maalik In cinemas now,” read the caption.
Set against the gritty backdrop of 1980s Allahabad, the action thriller is a hard-hitting tale of ambition, power, and survival that explores the price of rising in a world ruled by guns, greed and loyalty.
‘Maalik’ also stars Manushi Chhillar. The music for the film has been composed by Sachin–Jigar and Ketan Sodha.
