Netflix has strengthened its India content leadership team with the appointment of Raghav Raj Kodesia as Lead – Original Films and Acquisitions, where he will work across the streaming platform’s films slate as the company continues to expand its local storytelling ambitions.
Raghav will be reporting Ruchika Kapoor – Director, Original Films, Netflix India.
In a LinkedIn post update, Kodesia announced his move to Netflix, describing it as the beginning of an exciting new chapter focused on building stories that are culturally rooted, emotionally honest, and capable of resonating with audiences globally. His appointment comes at a time when India’s streaming landscape is witnessing rapid evolution, with platforms increasingly investing in original films and distinctive voices to stand out in a highly competitive market.
Kodesia brings more than 15 years of experience across content, talent, music, and commerce. Over the years, he has worked across multiple segments of the entertainment industry, beginning with roles at Saregama India and the ZEE Network, where he was involved in building artist ecosystems and content-led initiatives.
He later moved into the digital entertainment space with ZEE5 and Arré Studios, contributing to the development of original films and web series at a time when India’s OTT industry was rapidly expanding and experimenting with new storytelling formats.
Sharing details about his journey, Kodesia reflected on how his career has been shaped by passion, strong mentorship, collaboration, and self-belief. He credited the teams and colleagues he has worked with over the years, calling the entertainment business “a team sport” built on collective effort and trust.
He also highlighted the changing nature of audience behaviour in India, noting that viewers today are more diverse, more discerning, and increasingly open to fresh voices and unconventional narratives. According to him, the next phase of content growth will not be driven by scale alone, but by clarity in storytelling and backing stories that can travel across cultures while staying authentic to their roots.
At Netflix, Kodesia said he is looking forward to helping build a compelling film slate that creates joy, escape, and emotional connection for viewers worldwide. He added that the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s leading creative voices and support emerging talent was among the most exciting aspects of the new role.
His appointment further reflects Netflix’s continued focus on strengthening its India originals business, especially in films, as competition intensifies among streaming platforms for premium local content and globally appealing Indian stories.
Ending his announcement on a cinematic note, Kodesia wrote, “Looking forward to what comes next — working with some of the best in the business, backing fresh voices, and playing my part in what the world is watching. See you at the movies.”
