Netflix is gearing up to celebrate modern love with the upcoming romantic family drama ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’, featuring R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. The film is scheduled to stream from July 11, marking another addition to the platform’s evolving lineup of heartfelt, character-driven stories.
According to an IANS report, the film produced by Dharmatic Entertainment under the aegis of Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra—is directed by Vivek Soni, who makes his return to the romance genre after Meenakshi Sundareshwar. The story revolves around Shrirenu (Madhavan), a reticent Sanskrit teacher, and Madhu (Shaikh), a vivacious French instructor, whose unlikely connection ignites a journey of love, self-discovery, and family bonding.
Vivek Soni described the film as an exploration of “a love story that’s tender, messy, and intimate… challenging the roles we fall into in relationships,” adding that it reflects “the quiet courage it takes to truly let someone in” .
Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films at Netflix India, praised the fresh chemistry of the pairing and dubbed the narrative “a romance drama about love that sprouts amidst fallen hopes and gated traditions”.
Topping off the anticipation, audiences are already responding to first-look visuals and promotional teasers. One OTT portal described the film as a “heartwarming tale of opposites falling in love” that promises both humor and emotional depth . With its blend of mature storytelling and relatable characters, ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ aims to resonate with viewers seeking warmth, authenticity, and nuanced romance.
Set to debut exclusively on Netflix from July 11, the film continues the streamer’s trend of showcasing diverse love stories that capture changing social dynamics and emotional maturity.
