Prime Video unveils true-crime docu series

Prime Video has unveiled its first local true-crime documentary series ‘Dancing On The Grave’, based on the murder of Shakereh Namazi, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Mysore in Karnataka, in the 1990s.

The four-part series, written and directed by Patrick Graham, will debut on the streamer’s platform on April 21, according to a press statement from Prime Video.

‘Dancing on the Grave’ analyzes the abrupt disappearance and brutal murder of Shakereh Khaleeli (maiden name Namazie) through archive film, news articles, interviews and dramatizations.

The series analyzes the mysterious murder through exclusive interviews with key players in the events as well as those on the fringes, PTI reported from Mumbai on Saturday.

It also features the offender himself and delves deeper into the crime that shocked the nation over 30 years ago.

“Facts are sometimes stranger than fiction. Documentaries, on the other hand, provide a window into people’s social fabric, ethos, and attitudes; they can be stimulating and thought-provoking. At Prime Video, we are constantly striving to provide unique and interesting content to our varied client base.

“We have seen a growing interest in documentaries, especially in the crime genre, and are excited to bring ‘Dancing on the Grave’, our first Indian, true crime Original series to audiences across the world,” said Aparna Purohit, head of India Originals, Prime Video.

The show, which is produced by India Today Originals Production, is co-written by Kanishka Singh Deo.
