Prime Video has dropped the official trailer of its upcoming Tamil Original series ‘Exam’, a high-stakes suspense drama set in the world of competitive entrance exams. The seven-episode series, produced by Pushkar and Gayatri under Wallwatcher Films and directed by National Award-winner A. Sarkunam, is slated to premiere on May 15.
According to a Prime Video press release, the trailer was unveiled at a special event in Chennai, offering a glimpse into a gripping narrative built around a deep-rooted scam that impacts the highly competitive exam ecosystem. Set in the fictional town of Thykara, the series aims to combine social commentary with edge-of-the-seat storytelling.
The show stars Dushara Vijayan and Aditi Balan in lead roles, with Abbas playing a pivotal character. At the centre of the story is Jhansi, portrayed by Dushara, who embarks on a relentless mission to expose the scam, aided by her mentor Jayachandran, while DSP Maramalli, played by Aditi Balan, works to counter their efforts. As the narrative unfolds, the characters find themselves caught in a web of power, ambition and consequences far bigger than they anticipated.
The trailer hints at a layered storyline that goes beyond the surface of exam fraud, delving into themes of pressure, personal choices and systemic challenges. Director Sarkunam noted that the series is designed to resonate across geographies and social strata, exploring the emotional and moral dilemmas faced by its characters as their worlds collide.
Sharing her experience, Dushara Vijayan described her role as one of the most demanding of her career, highlighting Jhansi’s resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Aditi Balan added that her character brings depth and internal conflict to the story, while Abbas emphasised the narrative’s unpredictability and layered storytelling as key strengths.
‘Exam’ will stream exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories in Tamil, with dubbed versions available in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, along with subtitles in multiple languages. The series is positioned as a gripping addition to the platform’s growing slate of regional originals, blending suspense with socially relevant storytelling.
