Prime Video has announced May 22 as the worldwide premiere date for its upcoming original film ‘System’, a high-stakes courtroom thriller that explores the complex intersection of power, privilege and justice.
According to a Prime Video press release, the film will stream exclusively on the platform in Hindi across India and more than 240 countries and territories. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja and Smitha Baliga under Baweja Studios, ‘System’ promises a layered narrative driven by strong characters and moral dilemmas.
The film centres on Neha Rajvansh, played by Sonakshi Sinha, a public prosecutor navigating a system shaped by influence and entitlement. Her path crosses with Sarika Rawat, a courtroom stenographer portrayed by Jyotika, who comes from a modest background. Despite their contrasting worlds, the two form an unlikely alliance to uncover buried injustices, even if it means challenging those in positions of power.
Backing them is an ensemble cast that includes Ashutosh Gowariker, along with Preeti Agarwal, Adinath Kothare, Aashriya Mishra, Gaurav Pandey and Sayandeep Gupta in key roles. The screenplay has been written by Harman Baweja, Arun Sukumar, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Tasneem Lokhandwala and Akshat Ghildial.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, described System as a compelling drama that delves into ambition, ethics and the pursuit of justice. He said the film, under Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s direction, is designed to keep audiences engaged while offering a narrative that resonates beyond the courtroom.
Producer Harman Baweja noted that the story brings together two strong-willed women shaped by different realities but united by their sense of justice. He added that the collaboration with Prime Video has enabled the team to present the film at scale while staying true to its emotional and thematic core.
With its focus on confronting truth beyond legal verdicts, ‘System’ aims to position itself as a gripping addition to the courtroom drama genre, combining character-driven storytelling with larger questions about power and accountability.
