Prime Video has announced June 12 as the global premiere date for its upcoming original investigative thriller, ‘Raakh’, starring Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre, and Aamir Bashir in lead roles. The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

According to a Prime Video press release, ‘Raakh’ is directed and executive produced by Prosit Roy and created, written, and co-directed by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket. Dialogues for the series have been penned by Ayush Trivedi. Produced by Deepak Dhar, Rishi Negi, Mrinalini Jain, and Shyam Rathi under the banner of Endemol Shine India in association with BhaDiPa, the series promises an intense and psychologically layered crime drama.

Set against the backdrop of a city gripped by fear, ‘Raakh’ follows the mysterious disappearance of two teenagers that leaves a family shattered and an entire community searching for answers. As a determined investigating officer launches a nationwide manhunt, the case gradually uncovers a disturbing world of violence, trauma, and human darkness. The deeper he digs, the more he is forced to confront uncomfortable truths that challenge his understanding of justice and morality.

The series is being positioned as more than a conventional crime thriller. While the investigation forms the backbone of the narrative, ‘Raakh’ also explores the psychological impact of crime on individuals and communities, delving into the complexities of the human mind and the emotional cost of pursuing the truth.

Speaking about the project, Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said the series stood out because of its powerful storytelling and strong performances. He noted that the creators had crafted a narrative that is both compelling and emotionally devastating, while praising Ali Fazal’s portrayal of an officer consumed by a case that threatens to unravel his beliefs. Madhok also highlighted the performances of Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir, describing them as integral to the show’s emotional depth and intensity.

Rishi Negi, Group Chief Operating Officer at Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, said ‘Raakh’ distinguishes itself from other crime dramas through its refusal to offer easy answers and its focus on complex characters. According to him, the series balances the tension of a relentless investigation with deeper themes surrounding duty, justice, and moral ambiguity.

Director and executive producer Prosit Roy described ‘Raakh’ as one of the most creatively fulfilling and emotionally demanding projects of his career. He said the opportunity to combine the suspense of a gripping manhunt with an exploration of trauma and darker human impulses made the series particularly compelling. Roy also praised the writing by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket, calling the world they created meticulously researched and layered with emotional complexity.

Ali Fazal leads the cast as the investigating officer at the center of the story, while Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir play pivotal roles that add further emotional and psychological depth to the narrative. Their performances are expected to anchor a series that blends crime, suspense, and human drama in equal measure.
