In a strategic push to expand its content offerings in Europe, Prime Video has announced the integration of France Télévisions’ streaming and linear TV content into its platform, making a vast library of public service programming available to French subscribers under a new carriage deal.
According to an official Prime Video press release, the agreement ensures that users in France will now have access to live streams of France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5 and France Info—along with the full france.tv on-demand catalogue, which includes over 20,000 programmes. The partnership is effective immediately and enables Prime Video to host major live sporting events such as the Tour de France, the UEFA Women’s European Championship, and the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
This move is in line with Amazon’s ongoing strategy to position Prime Video as a content aggregator in key global markets. In France, the platform already offers third-party subscriptions to services such as Max, Paramount+, Ciné+OCS, Universal+, and MGM+. The integration of france.tv strengthens Amazon’s footprint in the French content space and reinforces the growing trend of digital-first distribution, particularly in a country where most pay-TV households rely on IPTV rather than traditional satellite or cable services.
“We are delighted to have concluded this agreement and to be able to make the extensive France Télévisions catalogue available to all our Prime customers in France,” said Christophe Deguine, Managing Director of Prime Video France. “We are constantly looking for new ways to expand the range of quality content available to our customers and to confirm Prime Video as the number one destination for entertainment.”
The deal also signals a strategic evolution for France Télévisions. Once a co-founder of Salto—a now-defunct French streaming venture launched with TF1 and M6 in 2020—the public broadcaster is now focusing on strengthening its digital presence via partnerships with global platforms. Speaking on the development, Delphine Ernotte Cunci, President and CEO of France Télévisions, said, “We are very pleased to make france.tv accessible to all Prime Video users from 3rd July. With this new distribution method, our group is taking a historic step to strengthen the visibility of its public service offering, and thus allow all audiences to rediscover and discover the unique richness of france.tv in new environments.”
The announcement comes just weeks after rival French broadcaster TF1 revealed a similar distribution agreement with Netflix, set to begin in summer 2026, which will bring TF1’s live and on-demand content to the streaming giant.
France.tv was launched in 2010 and has steadily evolved into the digital backbone of France Télévisions. According to Le Monde, the platform recorded a new milestone in June with 42.9 million unique monthly users, reaffirming its relevance in the shifting digital landscape.
