The wait is finally over for fans of India’s much-loved legal drama, as ‘Criminal Justice’ returns with its fourth season on May 22, exclusively on JioHotstar.
Starring the ever-versatile Pankaj Tripathi, the new season promises to be an intense and emotional rollercoaster as it dives deeper into the complexities of law, justice, and human morality.
According to PTI, the upcoming season will once again follow the sharp-witted advocate Madhav Mishra, portrayed by Tripathi, who has become the face of the series. With his grounded wisdom, dry wit, and unshakable moral compass, Mishra finds himself caught in a case that blurs the lines between guilt and innocence, bringing personal conflicts and professional dilemmas into sharp focus.
The ‘Criminal Justice’ franchise, based on the British series of the same name, has carved a niche for itself in India’s OTT landscape with its gripping narrative and socially relevant themes. Over the last three seasons, the show has tackled subjects like mental health, juvenile crime, and the exploitation within legal loopholes — with Tripathi’s character anchoring the story each time with his unique blend of humility and intellect.
While details of the new case at the heart of Season 4 are being kept tightly under wraps, the teaser released by JioHotstar hints at a high-stakes courtroom battle and a morally complex storyline that will once again test Mishra’s belief in the system. Supporting cast members and additional surprises are expected to be revealed in the coming days, adding to the growing buzz.
Speaking about the show’s return, a JioHotstar spokesperson said, “Criminal Justice has been one of the most engaging franchises on our platform, and Pankaj Tripathi has been central to its enduring success. Season 4 goes a notch higher in storytelling and emotional depth, and we’re thrilled to bring it to our audiences.”
Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India, the new season is directed by Rohan Sippy and written by a team of seasoned writers led by Shridhar Raghavan. With its layered storytelling and powerful performances, the show is expected to once again strike a chord with viewers across the country.
With Madhav Mishra stepping into yet another stormy legal drama, ‘Criminal Justice’ S4 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited OTT releases of the summer.
