Kubera Now-Digital TV has appointed veteran media professional Nirav Purohit as its Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone in the digital platform’s leadership journey. Purohit brings with him 25 years of experience across the media and entertainment industry, along with extensive expertise in operations, distribution, strategic marketing and regional broadcasting.
Kubera Now, positioned as India’s premier Gujarati-language dedicated digital business news platform, delivers financial journalism and business intelligence to Gujarat’s growing economic community through a digital-first ecosystem. The platform said Purohit’s appointment will bring operational expertise, strategic vision and deep industry relationships as Kubera Now strengthens its presence in the evolving digital media landscape.
Purohit’s career in the media industry began on 27 January 2001, when he played a pivotal role in the launch of ETV Gujarati. As part of the pioneering team, he contributed to establishing the channel’s presence in the regional broadcasting space. During his tenure, he built and led a team of 150 people across Gujarat, rising from an Executive to Assistant Manager – Operations and subsequently taking on key leadership responsibilities.
His experience at ETV Gujarati covered several areas of television operations, including fiction programming, non-fiction content, event management and news operations. This early phase of his career helped establish the foundation for his subsequent leadership roles across the media industry.
In 2007, Purohit moved to BAG Films & Media Ltd., where he played a key role in the simultaneous launch of News24 and E24. Working closely with the senior management, he was involved in strategic marketing, brand promotion and distribution networks, helping the two channels establish their presence in the market.
A major phase of Purohit’s career came with ABP Network Pvt Ltd, where he spent 16 years. He joined the organisation in 2010 as Distribution Head for Gujarat and neighbouring Union Territories, at a time when the network operated under the STAR NEWS brand, which later became ABP NEWS in 2012.
During his tenure, Purohit played an important role in the launch and growth of ABP Asmita, which has since emerged as a prominent regional news channel in Gujarat. His responsibilities later expanded across six group channels covering Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and other markets, giving him extensive experience in managing regional distribution and business operations.
His performance during this period was recognised through several industry awards and accolades, including the Bulls Eye Performance Award for the ABP Asmita launch in 2016, Best Performer in Regional Channels in 2017, Best Performer in OTS for ABP Asmita in 2018 and the CE Worldwide Facilities Management & Leadership Award in 2019.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Purohit has maintained strong associations with several industry and professional organisations, including the Gujarat Media Club (GMC), Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), BNI, AACA and BBB. These associations have contributed to his extensive professional network and understanding of the regional media and business ecosystem.
With his appointment as CEO, Purohit will now lead Kubera Now at a time when regional business journalism is increasingly moving towards digital-first platforms. His experience in launching television channels, building teams, managing distribution networks and developing regional media businesses is expected to play a key role as Kubera Now expands its digital presence.
His move to Kubera Now marks another significant chapter in a career that has spanned more than two decades, from the early days of regional television broadcasting to the rapidly evolving digital news environment.
