News18 India hosted the fourth edition of its flagship event, ‘Amrit Ratna 2026’, in the national capital, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, artists, sportspersons, and distinguished achievers to celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to India’s growth and development.

According to a News18 India press release, the event recognised individuals from diverse fields whose work reflects the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ and contributes to the nation’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior political leaders, eminent jury members, award recipients, and special guests, making it one of the network’s most prominent annual gatherings.

The event was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, among other dignitaries. A special highlight of the evening was an engaging conversation with actor Alia Bhatt, who spoke about her upcoming film ‘Alpha’ and her experience taking on action-oriented roles.

This year’s Amrit Ratna awards honoured several distinguished personalities, including former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia, Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, singer Sonu Nigam, actor Rakesh Bedi, scientist Dr. Shubha V. Iyengar, veteran actress Zeenat Aman, renowned instrumentalists Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Pt. Salil Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, actor Alia Bhatt, and celebrated singer-songwriter Gurdas Maan. The recipients were recognised for their outstanding achievements and lasting contributions across sports, science, entertainment, music, and public life.

Addressing the gathering, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta spoke about the role of every generation in nation-building. She said that while one generation fought for India’s independence and another helped build the nation, the present generation carries the responsibility of creating a developed India. She added that collective efforts by citizens can accelerate the country’s progress toward that goal.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju highlighted the government’s commitment to women’s representation in politics. He stated that the Women’s Reservation Bill is expected to be brought forward again during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament and emphasised the need for constitutional support to ensure its implementation.

Actor Alia Bhatt reflected on her upcoming action film and the evolving role of women in the action-entertainment genre. She said opportunities for women-led action films have been limited in India and described her role in ‘Alpha’ as a dream opportunity, despite the challenges and risks associated with such projects.

Over the years, ‘Amrit Ratna’ has emerged as one of the country’s respected platforms for recognising individuals whose work has created meaningful impact across society.
