Netflix has announced it will soon discontinue support for older Apple devices running iOS 16, which could impact users of popular models like the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and the first-generation iPad Pro.
As these devices cannot upgrade to iOS 17 or later, Netflix users will no longer have access to new updates and features, including important security patches and bug fixes, The Economic Times reported.
While users can still access the app in its current form, the app will eventually become outdated without further updates, leaving users without Netflix’s newest improvements. The alert within the app reads, “We’ve updated the Netflix app! To use the latest version, install iOS 17 or later.”
This move follows a similar decision in June 2024, when Netflix ended support for older Apple TV models, including the second- and third-generation Apple TV.
