Netflix is heading into the fall with a broad movie slate spanning star-led thrillers, prestige dramas, documentaries, animation and holiday fare, with Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt and Scarlett Johansson among the names attached to its biggest upcoming releases.

The streamer’s fall lineup, according to details provided in a Tudum note, begins in September with ‘Untold Raygun: Breaking Badly’, a sports documentary about Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn and the viral reaction to her 2024 Paris Olympics performance. 

‘Call My Agent! The Movie’, arriving September 10, reunites the former ASK agency team five years after the original series ended, while ‘Best of the Best’, starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia, follows two friends competing on UCLA’s Bollywood-fusion dance team. 

‘UNABOMBER’, starring Russell Crowe, Jacob Tremblay and Shailene Woodley, arrives September 25 and draws on the story of Ted Kaczynski and the FBI manhunt that followed. 

October brings one of the slate’s major titles in ‘Animals’, Ben Affleck’s thriller, which follows a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife after their son is kidnapped. The film, also starring Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson and Steven Yeun, reaches select theatres and Netflix on October 9. 

The month also brings a strong documentary line-up, including ‘Who Is Martin Mull?’, a portrait of the musician, comedian and painter directed by Bob Saget and Neil Berkeley, and ‘Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald’, Judd Apatow’s look at the late Saturday Night Live star’s life and legacy. 

‘SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of’ will revisit the influential Canadian sketch series through interviews, archival material and a cast reunion. 

November shifts towards international cinema, documentaries and holiday viewing. ‘Possible Love’, Lee Chang-dong’s first film in eight years, centres on two married couples whose lives become entangled through attraction, class differences and hidden desires. 

The film stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong. 

Ron Howard’s ‘Avedon’ will explore the life and influence of photographer Richard Avedon through personal archives, unseen stills and interviews. 

Jessica Chastain stars in ‘Heartland’ as a former country music megastar who emerges from seclusion to search for her missing niece, uncovering a darker side of Nashville. 

The November slate also includes ‘Gentle Monster’, starring Léa Seydoux and Catherine Deneuve, and ‘Steps’, an animated reworking of the Cinderella story in which her supposedly “evil” stepsisters steal the Fairy Godmother’s wand and set off on a quest of their own. 

‘The Mosquito Bowl’, directed by Peter Berg, follows four college football stars who enlist in the Marines after Pearl Harbor and prepare for the invasion of Okinawa. 

December brings the holiday romance ‘In a Holidaze’, along with Ava DuVernay’s documentary ’14th’, which examines the long-running political and legal battle surrounding the 14th Amendment. 

The animated ‘In Waves’ follows a teenage romance tested by sudden illness, while Cameron Diaz leads the action comedy ‘Bad Day’ as a single mother trying to keep a promise to her daughter during the worst day of her life. 

The year’s closing stretch is particularly star-heavy. Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth in David Fincher’s ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’, set in a very different Hollywood in 1977 and written by Quentin Tarantino. 

Brad Bird’s animated sci-fi ‘Ray Gunn’, featuring the voices of Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson, follows a private eye pulled into a case involving aliens, murder and a multimedia star. 

Netflix’s fall slate also extends beyond its English-language tentpoles, with titles including Los Javis’ three-generation Spanish saga ‘La bola negra’, Korean drama ‘Possible Love’, Brazilian drama ‘On Behalf of My Son’, Argentine comedy ‘Crappy Birthday To You’ and Korean action sequel ‘Mission: Cross.

The result is a fall calendar that mixes established stars and filmmakers with international voices, franchise-adjacent projects and original stories — positioning Netflix for a season built as much around event films as around quieter, awards-minded fare.
